The Highland Park 12 is a chill-filtered whisky preventing it from becoming hazy on the bottle. Priced within the average of a 12 year malt providing reasonable value for the money.Lacks a bit in body, though, but in general it provides a good experience from nose to finish as it has no let downs.Nicely balanced, subtle on the smoke, mostly sweet, with no harsh notes making a good sip.
The Highland Park 12 is one of the best 12 year whiskies you can buy.This peat has greater derivatives of carbohydrates and a lower concentration of lignin than peat from Islay, providing a unique chemical fingerprint. The peat used to dry the barley is sourced from Hobbister Moor. It offers a moderate smoke note when compared to Islay Whiskies such as Ardbeg 10 or Laphroaig 10 making it a bit more interesting than the average Scotch Whisky. There are hints of caramel and honey well balanced against iodine and smoke providing a good drinker. The Highland Park drinks nicely as it feels smooth and sweet with no harsh or troubling notes. Does the Highland Park 12 taste good? Yes The Highland Park 12 gets entirely better with a few drops of water as it becomes sweeter and some meaty notes pop-up. The finish is peppery, moderately sweet, and short, with just a tad of oak. Mouthfeel is s mooth and sweet, with a bit of iodine, honey and subtle smoke. On the palate, it feels somewhat thin lacking in body. There is a smoky note that does not show as high on the flavor. Nose is notoriously floral, with hints of citrus and honey.
